Romanian Shoemaker makes a shoe designed for social distancing

A cobbler has created leather shoes of size 75 as a way to enforce social distancing between wearers, after realizing people did not follow the safety guidance for the coronavirus pandemic.

When the pandemic started, the shoemaker whose shop relied on custom orders, his business impacted. However, according to Lup, as restrictions lessened across Europe, he noticed people weren't taking social distancing seriously, so he came up with the lengthy shoes as a way for them to keep the distance.

"You can see it on the street, people are not respecting social distancing rules," Lup said. "I went to the market to buy seedlings for my garden. There weren't many people there but they kept getting closer and closer."

"If two people wearing this shoes were facing each other, there would be almost one and a half metres between them."
