Prosecutors questioned Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Friday for about three hours about his management of the Corona virus crisis in two towns in the Lombardy region that were among the first to be hit by the epidemic.
Italian news agency ANSA reported that prosecutors in Bergamo, as people familiar with the facts, questioned Conte and Health Ministers Roberto Speranza and Interior Luciana Lamorghese about their alleged failure to quickly categorize the cities of Nembro and Alzano Lombardo as "red areas" and then close them.
Lamorguez's interrogation lasted for an hour, and Speranza is also to be investigated.
Conte reiterated on Friday that he was not concerned at all about this issue, and when asked, he said: "I acted according to my conscience."
